I offer voice lessons on-line via zoom or Skype, to students in the Palo Alto/San Francisco area, or living just outside of Portland. To be honest, at first, I was not sure whether long-distance lessons would be as effective as in-person lessons.

I make sure to visit my long-distance students for in-person lessons at least a couple times a year, and host small performances and masterclasses.
The obvious advantage is that you can have a lesson from any location. Some people find that they are more comfortable and free to make sound when in their own private space. I find that students naturally tend to project their voices due to the nature of communicating through a computer screen, which can be helpful in achieving a resonant sound that carries.
Also, my long-distance students, out of necessity, take more ownership over music-learning and remembering/taking note of the vocal warm-ups. This requires some level of commitment and patience but has obvious benefits.
In addition, I make sure to visit my long-distance students for in-person lessons at least a couple times a year, and host small performances and masterclasses. This is why I offer long-distance singing lessons to students who specifically like in the San Francisco/Palo Alto/Bay area or close to Portland.
I also encourage my long-distance students to attend weekend Body-Led Singing workshops in Portland, OR. That way they get the advantage of in-person attention to compliment their on-line lessons.
